Trip to France: Paris Part 3

To Rue 31 Cambon we go

To Rue 31 Cambon we go

After my wonderful experience with Florence in Chanel Rue 42 Montaigne, I really wanted something from 31 Rue Cambon, the store that started it all!

I really needed a wallet on a chain, for the times when it’s too cumbersome to wear a full bag. I had a very patient SA this time as well, but he did not go out of his way to find the products I wanted.

I was shown the “full” inventory and was not impressed. They did not have the items that other stores in Paris had, from newer collections to better color choices.

When we entered we were asked to wait until an SA was available, and were offered something to drink. We asked for water and a Coke, which were promptly brought to us. It was a short wait of 5 minutes and the SA brought us to the section where they keep the wallets on a chain and showed them to us. I was choosing between a Boy wallet on a chain in green with rethiume hardware and a lambskin classic wallet on a chain (WOC).

The Boy WOC was 1760€ and the classic was 1680€. I chose the Boy! This trip really was all about the Boys for me!

My savings for the WOC were as follows:

In the US at the time the Boy WOC was $2,613:
$2,400 x .08875 (taxes in NY) = $213
$2,400 + $213 = $2,613
Current price of Boy WOC in the US is $2,286.38:
$2,100 x .08875 = $186.38
$2,100 + 186.38 = $2,286.38

In Europe I paid 1760€, which is $2,000 USD minus the 222.5€ VAT refund:
$2,000 – $230 (VAT refund in USD) = $1,770 paid total.

I managed to save, in September, on the Boy WOC $843:
$2,613 (total price in NY with taxes) – $1770 (price of WOC after VAT refund) = $843 total savings.
Even with the current price of the WOC it’s $2,286.38 – $1,770.00 = $516.38 in savings for October.
